We are headed to the beautiful Philippines today for Aidz and Karen's bohemian Coachella festival inspired wedding.

They teamed a beach setting with a festival vibe for a truly memorable day. With gorgeous attire, giant paper flowers and some striking lighting their day looked a total dream.

FROM THE BRIDE | Me (Karen) and Aidz have been together since college (September 2003). Out of everything that we like to do together, there are two things that we love most: It's music and the beach. So for our wedding, we gathered all our loved ones and turned the celebration of our 10-year long love into a vibrant Coachella music fest by the beach!

Here in the Philippines where everyone's almost expected to get married in a church and have the reception at a nearby hotel, ours was definitely one that doesn't follow the cookie cutter wedding. We had everyone go on an adventure by coming all the way from the city to the beach! We love going to concerts and festivals so what better way to share that experience with our guests than create one by the beach! Inspired by Coachella, a lot of our wedding details revolved around music!

Ferris wheel - What is a Coachella themed event without one?! It was expensive to rent one so we decided to have one made and just (manually!) decorate it with flowers that resembled the other flowers of the wedding. We loved it so much we used it as a backdrop for both the ceremony and reception! All the guests loved it so much too that almost everyone had a photo with it!

Invites & Website ( www.bubbawedding.com)- We veered away from the usual simple, clean designs and opted for a colourful, watercolour design to go with the boho, festive theme. We worked super closely with the suppliers because we believed that the invites and the website were two of the most important touch points of our wedding All tables were labelled according to our (all-time/current) favourite musical artists!

During dinner and that dull time between the ceremony and reception, we played our favorite Coachella performances on screen to give guests that concert vibe by the beach.

Reception Entrance - The whole long table was full of DIY activities! Temporary tattoo area (Only because you can get a tattoo at a Coachella event). Message board (Guests were asked to send us their messages / well wishes using song lyrics). Table Posts (Song lyrics all manually written and designed by me!).

Wedding Cake - In Coachella, there are a lot of freedom boards. We used our cake as a freedom board where guests can write and do whatever they want with it using coloured icings.

I am definitely not a girly girl so I opted for an art deco-inspired beaded gown rather than the usual lace designs. I wanted to go for an art-deco design so that it is still aligned with the art-filled theme of the wedding.

I believe in oversized and statement pieces so I chose the flowers. I wanted flowers also that me and my brides can keep so I opted for paper flowers. Having been able to keep the flowers made the investment/cost more worth it!

Bridesmaid Dresses - Girls are mostly in printed / floral / boho attires during Coachella that's why we wanted our girls to look similar with printed floral ensembles.

Unlike other weddings where they give their tokens at the end of the event, we gave ours upon entrance at the reception. We gave away mason jars with straws so, just like in Coachella, they can right then and there drink whatever and whenever they want and be merry!

There were so many things that did not go as planned but with all the love and happiness during that night, nothing seemed to matter! We loved every minute of it and we wouldn't change anything!

Never lose sight of who you are! There are so many wedding inspirations, people giving their suggestions (and sometimes mandates!), and pressure from friends' weddings available out there that you might end up doing a cookie-cutter fancy wedding. At the end of the day, the wedding should be a representation of you and your love for each other.

So go ahead and do what your hearts desire! If there's anyone who should have fun and be happy on that day, more than the guests, it should be you and your husband to be!

Also, Do not be afraid to DIY! I know a lot of brides who think they can't do it that's why they just end up paying a lot of suppliers. Adding DIY items to your wedding makes the event more personal, warm, and well thought of.
