Stella McCartney showed two distinct points of view for spring '16: on one hand, there was transparent eyelet embroidery, meant to convey what the brand calls "feminine transparency," and on the other, masculine motifs that play with the world of men.
Exclusive to Nordstrom: backstage image provided by Stella McCartneyThe Stella team shared with us the idea that this juxtaposition, or "unexpected layering," is about the "feeling of fearlessness." Check out the opposing side of the season, and see some more examples of the push/pull interplay.
Photos: InDigital ImagesThe team told us their summer-weight knits were made to sit close to the skin. The bold set of polo shirts they sent out are a handsome but super-chic example.
And back to the other side-more eyelet detailing, rendered here in a gorgeously abstract asymmetrical dress.
The checkerboard dresses with the dramatic sashes of fabric were both bold and graceful on the runway. Elements of traditional men's tailoring take on that Stella McCartney easy sensuality-loose, open, seemingly always in motion.
The designer wanted to "exude a vivacious and liberated spirit," and we're definitely feeling it.
