Wedding - Katie Mitchell

Katie Mitchell

If you knock on the door of any Mongolian ger (their traditional nomadic tent) in need a place to sleep, you will always be offered a bed and a meal, no questions asked. That's just one of the things I loved about the Mongolian way of life - their strong sense of community. It often lacks in our culture, I think. Our driver, Baggins, asked if we would mind if we stopped by his brother's house one day as we happened to be in the area (and they didn't get the chance to see one another very often). Of course we said yes, and soon we had been welcomed into their abode. Within seconds bowls of hot tea and freshly made fried pancakes where being thrusted into our hands. Eat, eat! They gestured. It didn't even occur to me that we weren't able to speak the same language as we sat together in that little wooden shack and warmed our chilled bodies by the fire ❤️
