Wedding - Tunnel Of Love

Tunnel Of Love

I’ve never promoted myself as a “wedding photojournalist” because more often than not, I somehow influence the photo in one way or another. A true “photojournalist” doesn’t use flash, doesn’t tell people where to stand/pose, doesn’t remove trash cans out of the background and doesn’t have any influence on the situation to get a photo. They don’t create, they capture. I’m not that guy. I would describe myself as a Wedding Photo Creationist. I capture the moment, but also do what is necessary in order to get the shot I envision. In fact, I don’t know anyone who does pure photojournalism, even though that’s a trendy topic brides like to throw around. My current favorite catch phrase/tagline: “I create the best possible candid shots” (that’s funny if you think about it long enough) This shot, however, with the exception of using flash, is about as purely candid as they come. Julie & Trevor were exiting their wedding on Saturday night through a 100 person tunnel. I had crept in at the very end of the tunnel and was hunched over, walking backwards, while trying to photograph them going through the tunnel. I’m a pretty coordinated person, but this could have been a disaster if I had tripped over a foot. But God and good fortune blessed me with capturing this exact moment, which reflected the overall mood and emotion of their wedding. They’re now up the coast in California at a beach-side hotel enjoying clam chowder and long sunsets. Congrats Trevor & Julie! I wish you many awesome years ahead! Plenty more photos of their amazing day on my FB fan page
