Wedding - Oh Friendly Canada....

Oh Friendly Canada....

Besides photographing Amy’s wedding, my other objective this past weekend was to remove the stereotype I had of Canada. I knew they were friendly, fostered a few comedians, and had a micro brew or two, but that was about it. I was just never sure why we never invaded and colonized them. So I get to LAX and fly to Calgary, where I’m greeted by the lovely Customs/Immigration agent: 1. Why are you in Canada? for a wedding 2. Whose wedding? Amy & Mason’s 3. What is Mason’s last name? I’m not really sure 4. How can you not be sure, is this really why you’re here? well yes, I’m photographing it 5. So you’re a professional photographer making money on foreign soil, do you have a visa for this? Well, I’m just doing it as a favor 6. So how do you know Amy & Mason? Well, from the internet actually… So obviously getting into the country wasn’t easy, but after sniffing through all my bags and me assuring them that I was not photographing in their country for profit, they let me in. Upon exiting the country, I was asked: 1. Why were you in Canada? Just attending Amy & Mason Smith’s wedding as a guest And they let me leave. I lied, and that’s a sin. We were also kicked out of an open field by an old man in a dirty truck. It felt like I was back home… facebook
