Modern Meets Mexico at this Joshua Tree Wedding

Modern Meets Mexico at this Joshua Tree Wedding

Taking cues from the groom's home country of Panama, this wedding in the desert of Joshua Tree was filled with what can be described as 'Modern Meets Mexico'. Bailey + Josué met right before she moved to Mexico - to be a caregiver + foster parent at an orphanage there (you go, girl!). So it fit that they would incorporate so many elements of Mexico into their desert wedding.

Bailey is now an event designer ( Lady of the River), and wanted to incorporate all that makes them, THEM, into their big day. She teamed up with designer Benjamin Holtrop, and planner Willow & Lace to bring it all to fruition. The duo traveled to Puerto Nuevo in Mexico to pick up woven blankets and piñatas, which were incorporated into the reception. They served tacos (yes, PLEASE!) and she donned a modern take on the traditional Panamanian wedding dress.

Let's travel to Rim Rock Ranch to see all the details captured by Tyler Branch!

The moment right before the first look....

Lookin' sharp, Josué!

Bailey wore two dresses for the day - this one by Lena Medoyeff, and you'll see her darling pollera-inspired gown below!

How cute are they?!

Josué created a circular white backdrop out of wood to symbolize the unity, holiness and eternal nature of their commitment.

Josué and I will forever cherish the few minutes we took to ourselves immediately following the ceremony. A friend suggested we set a few minutes aside to soak in the first moments as a married couple. It was by far one of the sweetest moments we had all day.

Such dapper looking gents!

My dress by Daughters of Simone (borrowed from a sweet stranger) and the flower girls' dresses (made by the mother of the groom), were a modern take on the traditional Panamanian wedding dress called the pollera.

The floral crowns for the flower girls were made by Siren Floral Co.

Mud cloth pillows mixed with a Moroccan wedding rug from Mae Woven - we think this pairing is perfect!

We really wanted an element that represented the solidity and unbreakable nature of our marriage, so I used concrete to hand-make our centerpieces, 200 dinner plates (with the help of a few dear friends), and candleholders (in collaboration with designer Benjamin Holtrop).

Thank you for letting us in on your spectacular day, Bailey + Josué!! Congrats from all of us at GWS!
