Home Tour: Industrial + Boho Bungalow in Orlando

We here at GWS are absolutely thrilled to share this 'Industrial Meets Boho' home tour. Not only is the design aesthetic super cool, but we absolutely adore the couple behind the home + their story! Lindsay + Scott have been married for six years and like any couple, they both have grown and transformed since they first got married. The couple wanted to reflect that in their new space and surround themselves with things that truly make them happy + feel the most, well, them.

Lindsay shares I labeled our design style as "industrial meets boho" but I might as well have labeled it as masculine meets artsy flair with a whole lot of plants thrown in. When we first moved into our house the idea of decorating seemed somewhat daunting to me. I had never owned a home before and the two apartments Scott and I lived in beforehand were half the size of our new house. One thing I knew though was I wanted it to be a place that was an authentic representation of both of us. I feel most alive when I am surrounded by plants and layers and layers of textiles and Scott loves reclaimed wood + strong iron pieces.

Let's take a peek at their gorgeous home, photographed by Sydney Marie Photography!

Lindsay shares There is an art print above our couch that says, "Keep the wild in you." That sign is a good reminder for me. Embracing the "wildness" in us - to be truly and unashamedly yourself - is risky business but downright beautiful. My hope for our home is that it expresses who we are and it invites others to want to do the same.

That Moroccan style pouf ottoman!!

The coziest little set up! We love all the textures, plants + big open windows!

Lindsay is a big advocate for craiglist, and believes that there are bound to be treasures that others are getting rid of everywhere.

Those GORGEOUS white walls are painted with Benjamin Moore Simply White.

What advice do you have for couples currently designing their home?

Life is short, so why put anything in your home that you or your spouse aren't a fan of? We got married six years ago and while that may not be that long ago, our style and aesthetic has changed quite dramatically in these few short years. It occurred to me a couple of years ago that we don't have to keep the things we had when we first got married that neither of us care for anymore. We can sell those things or give them away. They are just things. It is far more important to me that my home is "us" so that we can get the most enjoyment out of our time there.

Though their style may have changed over the course of their marriage, the main color palette of their home is actually the same as their wedding day!

We asked Lindsay how she gathered her inspiration for creating a cohesive design scheme, and she shares I really identified with a bohemian aesthetic. When it came to interior design, I loved Justina Blakney's work. I so admire the way she layers textures and plants; her style is fierce and untamed which I respect! I started following a lot of designers on Pinterest + Instagram that have a similar eye to mine so I could see what worked and what didn't.

Lindsay shares I had a style epiphany about four years ago. I was 25 and had, at that point, spent half my life battling an eating disorder and trying to be "perfect". My journey to recovery was wild and messy but over time I started to accept and delight in who I was. And "who I was" was changing. The more I tasted freedom the more I realized that I am strong and silly; tender-hearted and opinionated. Being "true to myself" became increasingly important and around that time I discovered a beautiful thing: consignment shops. I realized the way I dressed could become a form of self-expression. So I literally traded in my polished look of baby doll dresses and my pearls for leather pants and fringed-vests... I am now a mental therapist and it is my life's goal to help other women realize their worth and dignity. When my husband and I bought our first home nearly a year ago, I realized this was a whole new way for me to invite others into the beauty and redemption we have experienced in our lives.

This is the "man cave", and it happens to be Scott's favorite room. The leather couch and whiskey cart definitely give it the air of being a 'man's man' kind of room, and we absolutely love the addition of the throw pillows + rug.

Wasn't that fun?! If you're a newlywed couple or wedding creative who is interested in sharing your home with us, we'd LOVE to see!! Click here to send the photos + details our way! :)

And thanks so much to Lindsay + Scott for letting us take a peek at your lovely home!
