Romantically Rustic Wedding - Polka Dot Bride

Mary and Jono wanted their wedding day to have rustic elements, to feel relaxed and organic, and ultimately incredibly romantic. They kept the details beautifully simple, with sentimental touches that spoke of what they loved and who they were, such as their first look at their favourite whiskey bar. The couple chose Darin Collison Photography to capture their romantically rustic wedding at Melbourne's Laurens Hall.

"We met a few years ago on a night out on the town in Richmond. As the cheesy love song "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" played in the background, our eyes met. Jono proceeded to become quite inebriated and needed Mary to care for him for the remainder of the night. Classic gentleman. Everybody was sceptical at first, seeing as we broke Jono's cardinal rule that fateful evening - you never meet anyone worthwhile after 3am. This rule has since been thrown out the window, and the rest is history."

The bride wore a stunning lace dress in nude pink designed by Mariana Hardwick, and her bridesmaids wore long blush pink gowns from ASOS. The groom wore a charcoal waistcoat in a herringbone pattern as an alternative to a suit jacket for a more relaxed feel. His pocket watch and cufflinks were a gift from his bride.
The bride and groom chose to start their wedding day with a first look. Mary remembers, "A special mention to our favourite local whiskey bar Lulie Street Tavern who happily had us for a few drinks, pizza and our first look!" This was followed by portraits with their bridal party before their ceremony.

The couple held their ceremony and reception at Laurens Hall, an old timber mill in inner city Melbourne. " We held the ceremony in a space surrounded by stacked timber adorned with greenery and candles to create an intimate setting for the nuptials to take place. We wanted to keep the look of our ceremony simple with the choice of foliage, and wanted it to reflect who we are - two free spirited birds! Our close friend and one of our brothers did the readings."

The bride walked down the petal bordered aisle to Lewis Watson's acoustic version of "Into The Wild".

The stunning greener installation and colourful bouquets were created by Casa Verde.

Of their photographer Mary gushes, " Darin Collison was cool and calm. He suited what we wanted from our wedding - a relaxed day with minimal formalities, with more of a focus on being with our bridal party, family and friends. We loved his journalistic approach and he really captured how emotional the day was for us - all the tears and laughter!"

"Conversation was flowing between strangers, best friends, families and lovers. It was so beautiful to see our worlds collide, and to see that people from all walks of life could really stand side by side, chat and laugh when it comes to a day all about celebrating love!"

The bride and groom had their first dance to "So Into You" by Tamia, covered by Childish Gambino. "Love is no more than an affection for another person in a very simple and beautiful way, and for us this song summed up how simple and young love can be. Our first dance was fun, unrehearsed, spontaneous, intimate and, as always, a little shy and awkward."

Their stunning wedding video was filmed by Ajay Rodriguez.

Congratulations Mary and Jono! We just adore your wedding. Thank you to Darin Collison Photography for sharing it with us!
