Sumptuous could be used to describe much the designer Tom Ford touches. His advertisements are downright sexy, often something more than that. His clothes come in regal fabrications and his suits drape the body like clinging robes. Even his cosmetics apply like silk on the skin.

Embracing the show-now-shop-now ethos isn't something that seems to correlate with such luxury. However, other qualities Tom Ford seems to embrace are impulse and gratification. Overt sexiness incites such emotions, so does overt consumerism. This fall, Tom Ford was one of a handful of designers to show an Autumn 2016 collection during the Fashion Week that's reserved for Spring 2017. While most runways hosted a parade of sundresses and billowy blouses, Tom Ford's seemed aggressively bundled-up, especially coming from the master of sex appeal, which often translates to skin-baring cuts and cleavage.

To coincide with his in-stores now collection of rich leathers and Italian wool, Tom Ford released several new cosmetics to wear now, during the fall. When put so plainly, presenting products when they are meant to be consumed really doesn't seem like such a rebellious act. But with Tom Ford being one of the few to do it, he certainly lends the strategy his maverick reputation.

Each beauty tool lent a soft glow to the wearer, something most welcome during the fall and winter months when faces can look a little pasty and wan. If anything is going to be bare this season, for Tom Ford, it's a glowing face.

Each look from the runway began with the Illuminating Primer for a radiant tone that also preps the skin. For the show, artists blended the primer with a lightweight foundation. Not only does this primer combat cold-weather drab but it actually invigorates cellular growth to fight aging.

On the lips, Tom Ford makeup artists used the new lip contour duo, a shaper pencil on one end and a color on the other, which was created specifically for this Autumn 2016 show. After defining the lip with the shaper pencil, the artists dabbed Fling It On, a sheer peach lip color, on every model; the shade complements all skin tones and adds a healthy gloss.

Eyes were treated to a speciality shadow palette, also made just for the season's show. A delicate sheen was accomplished by mixing the two shades, a flattering golden-pink and an iridescent chocolate. This shadow can be worn wet for a more vivid, high-polish look or dry for subtly.
