Surprise Wedding Proposal at the Colosseum | Fly Away Bride

Amylea and Eudel travelled to Rome in late February- little did Amylea know that they'd be leaving the city engaged. Eudel organised his surprise proposal to take place at the Colosseum and had Andrea Matone on standby to candidly photograph the moment from a distance. Eudel's luck held out and they had the space all to themelves as he got down on one knee: the right moment at the right time. After a triumphant "yes" from Amylea the trio continued with the engagement session, starting with some sunset pictures right at the Colosseum. They then set off around Rome, hitting all the famous sites- more about these from Andrea their photographer below.

"After the Colosseum, we continued on foot towards Piazza del Campidoglio which has a unique view overlooking the Roman Forum. We had to finish up then as we were losing daylight, but we met the next day to to continue our session. In order to reach all the main points we wanted, we used a car service which enabled us to move quickly and easily around. We wanted to capture not only some fun pictures but to get to a few places a little off the beaten track.

The Roman Forum offered fantastic views over the ancient city in a stunningly beautiful light. We breezed through the Severino Arc up the stairs to the main square, and then head for the Piazza del Campidoglio. The Piazza is an awesome place which offers so much to photograph: different types of stairs, columns with great light, interesting statue backdrops.. It's really a great place to invest some photography time.

We traveled up the Spanish Steps by the Trinita' dei Monti church, overlooking the city skyline, then back down and soon after we were midway down to the terrace balcony over Via dei Condotti. And finally into Piazza di Spagna taking pictures over the Barcaccia water fountain using a wide angle lens. At the Parco del Pincio over Piazza del Popolo we got some fun shots before taking more reflective photos with the Roman rooftops as background. After a short ride we were down by the Piazza del Popolo square, which inspired the water pool fountain image from above.

Our last stop was the Vatical and the amazing Saint Peter's Square. We started shooting under the wonderful colonnade which creates such interesting light effects. After trying out some poses we moved into the main square, where we found a beautifully blue tinged light just after sunset. Towards the end of the session Saint Peter's cathedral lit up- a perfect end to an amazing session."
