Two Pods In A Pea.

Two Pods In A Pea.

If you're a music loving kinda gal or boy then you might be more than a little envious of the musical talent that sang Kalin and Jason through their big day in the hills of Tuscany. Oh yes, did I forget to mention that this lucky pair also had dazzling sunshine and picturesque olive groves to contend with as well? I know! Immense.

This black tie, musical big day has exquisite details in abundance and then some. Kalin's delicate and elegant Sophia Tolli dress is the perfect frock for Artimino's age-old glamour and I adore their travel-inspired theme which pays homage to the way in which the two met.

Oh and they also had a masquerade ball the night before the wedding too! Now I'd like to have seen some photos of that!!

Kalin The Bride: My husband and I met whilst learning to become Scuba Divers in Thailand. Following that we embarked on a one year round the world travel tour visiting many places from Peru to Fiji. It was whilst travelling on the long bus journeys that we began to discuss the kind of wedding we'd love to have. My husband proposed to me a few months after returning from our travels. A year together made us both realise that we were meant for each other. Four years later we stumbled upon Chiara at Weddings In Tuscany who introduced us to beautiful Artimino. We knew that we wanted to have a masquerade ball the evening before the wedding and then a relaxed BBQ by the pool the day after; Artimino provided us with the perfect venue.

Our vintage travel wedding theme was subtle but was inspired by the journey we had been on as a couple over the past seven years. We made a lot of the little touches ourselves with a lot of help from family. My father-in-law made us a picture frame photobooth, my husband made all the signs we had, myself along with my mother-in-law made the programs, fans, place settings, table numbers, handkerchiefs etc.

I wore silver, diamond and pearl jewellery and a silver bespoke hair pin passed onto me by my best friend. Two of the bridesmaids have also worn this jewellery at their weddings, it has become a kind of tradition. On the wedding day the bridesmaids also bought me two presents - a Bridal charm pin by Betty's Glamour Box which they pined to the inside of my dress and a bouquet charm that contained a photo of my mum who sadly passed away less than a year before the wedding. As you can imagine it was an extremely emotional moment. My court shoes were from Dune but I added an extra touch using a shoe clip from Pretty Pink Toes.

My husband wore cuff links that I'd left for him as a present on the morning of the wedding. The note read 'two pods in a pea' which was an ongoing joke we had. Ever since I quoted the saying wrong on a round the world travel trip we've called each other pod. The silver pod cuff links were designed by Sue Hodgson on Folksy. The Groomsmen all wore vintage map inspired cuff links by Brass and Chain on Etsy.

I had a blonde, brunette and redhead as bridesmaids so we had to find something simple that suited all of them. We opted for a simple high street dress from Warehouse.
My husband and I wrote our own vows. My best friend and her husband along with one of Jason's best friend and his wife gave us words of advice during the ceremony. In addition my dad and two friends sang two songs with which everyone joined in.

I come from a musical family so I pulled some strings to create the most amazing wedding band. Part of the original Breakfast Band reformed together with Frank Raya an Italian musican and some of his music pals. Vocals were provided by friends - Naana Agei-Pryde (a West End actress/singer and Charlene Michael who launched her debut album this year, reaching number 4 in the UK soul charts with her single Good Day.

We also had a magician Alfie who kept our guests entertained. One of my best friends and her fiance also played the most gorgeous acoustic set for us as the sun was beginning to set. They are a singer/songwriter couple living in LA.

An amazing seven course dinner was all provided by Artimino's caterers. The food surpassed itself and wowed all that attended. The cake was simple and perfectly Italian.

I made all my place settings using a Sizzix Big shot. I found a vintage map online and printed it onto good paper. Using the Sizzix Big shot I cut, embossed and stuck these onto quality brown card. When you are planning a wedding you'll know that your guests/numbers can be quite a stressful ordeal; creating the place names myself enabled me to make last minute changes with little additional costs.

One of the best gifts I was given was my personalised wedding dress hanger - My best friend has recently started her own company - Clouds and Currents - where the hangers are from and they are the perfect way to display your most precious dress.

The best part of our wedding day (apart from marrying the love of my life and seeing the pride in my father's eyes as he walked me down the grand stairway) was having all our loved ones there with us to celebrate. It was a day we'll never forget.
