A Coral & Glitter Vintage Wedding

A Coral & Glitter Vintage Wedding

via

Morning WWWers, are you ready for a drop dead gorgeous wedding celebration set in the Captial? I sure am :-)

Jason and Chantelle married back in  August, which a Church ceremony followed by a reception at The Cape Bar, London. With a love of all things vintage and retro, the look was perfectly reflected in Jason and Chantelle’s wedding day.

The bridesmaids looked so pretty in 1950s prom dresses, there were gorgeous coral blooms and touches of glitter. Chantelle looked amazing in her shortened dress and glitter shoes, while the boys wore grey with coral ties. WOW.

Thanks so very much to Blush and Whimsy for sharing her beautiful images with us today.

The Proposal… On a cold winters evening on January 2nd; Jason took me for some dessert at the Haagen Dazs restaurant in Leicester Square. We then went on to the embankment for a long stroll. We ended up just behind Westminster Cathedral where he proposed on one knee under a street lamp. It was all very romantic, especially as my engagement ring is based on Princess Diana’s, and he proposed right at the place she got wed! Awwww

The Vision for the Day… I think in the beginning we had all of these grand ideas about what we wanted our day to be, but as the planning process went on, we really just wanted to enjoy being in love, getting married and sharing it with the people we love and appreciate the most.  It sounds soppy, but honestly we just couldn’t wait to get married!

The Planning Process… The planning process was lots of fun and very creative. There were a few hiccups (my dress), but overall it was really enjoyable.

Budget… Approx £5000

The Venue… St Marys Church, Walthamstow, E17 and the reception at The Cape Bar, Nesham Street, E1W 1YY.

The Dress and Accessories… Shoes Kurt Geiger with added glitter bow shoe clip from Something Different (web site). Dress from Wedding Dress Factory Outlet. Veil from ebay.

Finding the Dress… Well I bought it two weeks before the wedding! I originally had a vintage 50’s lace dress, but as I was altering it in the months before the wedding, something wasn’t clicking and it wasn’t turning out the way I had dreamed. I thought it was just me being an indecisive bride, and as we didn’t have lots of spare money, I pushed it to the back of my mind and thought it would be okay. About three weeks before the wedding, I sat Jason down, cried my eyes out and said I really couldn’t wear the dress as I wouldn’t feel beautiful. Bless Jason, he really understood and we got the money together so I could buy a brand new one. A bit of a roller coaster, but I was really happy in the end. I just bought a new dress and then had the front made shorter so you could see my beautiful shoes!

Groom’s Attire… We hired all of the suits from Suitsdirect.com.

The Readings… Two bible verses. Our first dance was At Last by Etta James.

Beautiful Bridesmaids… My absolutely beautiful bridesmaids were all in an original 50’s vintage dresses and ran from ivory to a dusky orange. I always knew I wanted something different for my bridesmaids and what better way to dress them in an original 50’s prom dress! We sourced them from Ebay, and vintage shops in London.

The Flowers… Were from a great florist called Christine from All Things Bright And Beautiful Flowers and Events.

Our Cake… Was made by our wonderful friend as a wedding gift.

Your Photographer… What can we say about our photographer Lucy… Fantastic! She was really down to earth and it made us feel so relaxed in front of the camera. We couldn’t be happier with our photos and we need to find an occasion to use her again!

The Details and Decor… Being on a budget we knew a lot of it would be DIY, but I love that stuff and was in my element. I covered all of the bottle centrepieces with glitter and filled them with flowers. I love aspects of vintage a retro so I came up with the idea to name each table after and retro sweet and had these on each table also. We had candy floss and popcorn machines and a photo booth so we could get some funny photos! We really wanted a fun relaxed atmosphere, but still with a touch of sparkle!

The Honeymoon… We went to a little town called Vera in Almeria, Spain. It was so nice to relax and enjoy some sun after the all the wedding plans.

Memorable Moments… We would say our vows. It was a very loving and touching moment.

Advice for Other Couples… It’s your day, do it YOUR way. There will always be lots of people who say to do this or do that, but we really think you have to stay true to what you as a couple want and can afford. As much as may seem like it, there are no rules and you should do what it right for you. And whatever happens, actually getting married and making a commitment to love each other ‘til death us do part’ is most important thing.
